George Mason Will Rename Scalia Law School Due to Unfortunate Acronym
Last week, in honor of his legacy, George Mason announced its school of law would be renamed after the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.
There’s just one teeny, tiny little problem: the name is now the Antonin Scalia School of Law. The acronym is ASSoL.
WHOOPS.
The acronym got lots of social media attention under the hashtag #ASSlaw:
In case you’re wondering, it’s true. #GMULaw will now be #ASSLaw. I applaud my successor for such a classy move.

I suspect that they are busy trying to figure out how to put out the #ASSLaw fire first. https://t.co/mrLtyQYMNs

Seems appropriate that after Scalia’s death, the law school in his name, Antonin Scalia School of Law, will likely forever be called #ASSLaw

The renaming came after the law school received a $30 million donation with a specific request to change the name.
Well, because of the obvious reason, George Mason has decided on another change. According to NBC News, the new name will be the Antonin Scalia Law School.
Well, they seem to have plugged that hole…
