Gohmert: CDC Chief Is ‘Commander of War Against Democrat Women Nurses’
Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) may not be the first person you’d think of when it comes to supporting Democrats and nurses, but during an appearance on Glenn Beck’s radio show this morning, he criticized the CDC for failing to protect the Dallas nurses who treated Thomas Eric Duncan, the Liberian man who died of Ebola in the US.
“Ya know it’s a shame that the CDC head, [Dr. Tom] Frieden, is apparently is the new commander of the Democrats’ war on woman nurses,” Gohmert said. “They set them up and throw them under the bus.”
The bipartisan outrage comes after the revelation that the CDC cleared nurse Amber Vinson to fly from Cleveland to Dallas, despite the fact that she reported an elevated fever of 99.5 degrees Fahrenheit. (The official temperature for a fever, which is a symptom of ebola and indicates that it’s communicable, is 100.4 degrees.)
“As far as I know, I’m okay,” he said. “But do any of us know for sure?”
