GOP Candidate Spoofs Van Damme’s ‘Epic Split’ in Anti-Obamacare Ad

Heads up, Georgia: Mike Collins, a Republican candidate for your 10th district House seat, is about to Van Damme Obamacare.

Or something to that effect. Joining the legions of homages to and parodies of Jean Claude Van Damme’s viral splits video, Collins’ new ad shows him balancing—though, notably, not doing the splits—between two moving semis, while a voiceover declares in prose similar to the original ad that the challenges Collins braved in starting a trucking company prime him to meet the menace of Obamacare.

“Starting a trucking business,” Collins intones, “I’ve had my ups and downs, my fair share of bumpy roads and heavy winds. That’s what’s made me what I am today. Now I stand here before you. What you see is a small businessman confronted with Obamacare, a disastrous government plan that defies the laws of the market and a mindset that government knows better.“

Not 100% what that has to do with JCVD other than Damme’s stunt is the meme of last week the moment. But given that Collins is one of six GOP candidates elbowing for the open House seat, perhaps this ad is all he’ll need to stand out.
