GOP Legislator: Guns Are ‘Essential To Living The Way God Intended’

California Republican Assemblyman Tim Donnelly believes that President Obama‘s gun control proposals are contrary to a religious life as he thinks guns are “essential to living the way God intended.”

Speaking on the AM740 KBRITE Christian radio show, “The Bottom Line,” Donnelly said guns are “used to defend human life” and that’s why they have a religions mandate.

According to Donnelly,

“They [guns] are used to defend our property and our families and our faith and our freedom, and they are absolutely essential to living the way God intended for us to live.”

The Huffington Post notes that Donnelly himself has been known to carry firearms illegally. Last year, he was stopped by the TSA for attempting to bring a loaded Colt .45 handgun with four rounds onto a plane. It was discovered in screening at Ontario International Airport. He was also carrying a magazine with five more rounds.

Donnelly did not have a permit and claimed he had the gun with him because he was worried about death threats.
