Greenwald: Bush vs. Clinton in ’16 Would Push Us Closer to ‘Monarchy’

Glenn Greenwald appeared on Laura Ingraham‘s radio show today to discuss the NSA and the lack of political will to do something about it, but Greenwald also addressed how a hypothetical Hillary Clinton/Jeb Bush matchup in 2016 would put to rest the idea American politics doesn’t serve at the behest of political dynasties.

Ingraham asked Greenwald what exactly the differences would be between Clinton and Bush on surveillance issues. Greenwald said that whatever differences they have are “trivial to nonexistent.” He went on to remark, “Any matchup like that has really disturbing implications just because we now have this sort of dynastic succession in politics.”

Because, he argued, in contrast to how the American system is supposed to work, “we’re getting further away from that into the British monarchy model that we waged a war to liberate ourselves from.”
