Hacked Email Shows the Clintons Liked Tillerson, Considered Him For Speaking Role at Clinton Foundation Conference
A hacked Wikileaks email from the account of former Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta reveals that Bill Clinton and the Clinton Foundation regarded Donald Trump‘s Secretary of State pick Rex Tillerson highly enough — or, at least, thought highly enough of his education initiatives — that he was once under consideration for a prominent speaking role at a Clinton Global Initiative coneference in 2012.
In hacked memo, the Clintons privately praised Tillerson’s education advocacy, considered him for @ClintonGlobal. https://t.co/sqGK2gC4vr pic.twitter.com/RkGHOQ7LgH

The memo originated from the Clinton Global Initiative, and was written to former President Bill Clinton, and circulated amongst key staffers including Podesta and Chelsea Clinton. It identified Tillerson and former Education Secretary Arne Duncan as a “pioneering pair” of “government and private sector leaders working together to define a new American economy.”
Specifically, it cites Tillerson as “prominently supportive of some of Duncan’s chief priorities, including teacher training, STEM education, and workforce development. As CEO, he has led major investments in education across the country, especially in educating girls.”
The memo makes no comment about any other aspect of Tillerson’s business practices or political philosophies.
