Hannity Asks Jeb Bush the Iraq War Question — Here’s How He Answers

One of the biggest political stories this week has been Jeb Bush‘s comments to Megyn Kelly that he would still invade Iraq knowing what we know now, 12 years after the initial occupation.

“Would you have authorized the invasion?” Kelly asked the former Florida governor. His response, at the time, was a pointed “I would have, and so would have Hillary [Clinton].”

After some baffled responses from fellow conservatives, it became apparent that Bush might have misunderstood Kelly to be asking whether he’d have done it knowing what we knew in 2003. But his camp never officially clarified.

Appearing on Sean Hannity‘s radio show Tuesday afternoon, Bush said: “I interpreted the question wrong, I guess.”

He continued: “Knowing what we know now, you know, clearly there were mistakes as it related to faulty intelligence in the lead-up to the war and the lack of focus on security. And my brother’s admitted this, and we have to learn from this.”

Okay, but would he authorize the Iraq War in 2015, knowing what we know now?

Hannity asked and here’s how the likely candidate responded: “I don’t know what that decision would have been — that’s a hypothetical.”
