HGTV Cancels Pilot After Complaints over Hosts’ Anti-Gay Views
HGTV has pulled the plug on a show pilot after complaints about the hosts’ views on gay marriage and abortion. The show, Flip It Forward, was to star brothers David and Jason Benham, following families trying to make their dream houses.
The brothers, however, hold views on gay marriage that plenty of people took to HGTV’s Facebook page to complain about. Back in 2012, at a rally organized by one of the brothers and their father Flip Benham, David spoke out against gay marriage, calling votes against anti-gay discrimination a “very desperate spiritual situation and moral situation in our country.” And that wasn’t all.
Later, Benham told Mefferd that America’s Christian majority must repent for tolerating abortion rights, no-fault divorce, legal pornography, “homosexuality and its agenda that is attacking the nation” and the “demonic ideologies” that he says have taken over the education system.
Well, the network today announced they won’t be going forward with the pilot. A lot of the comments on the Facebook post, however, are complaints about the general quality of HGTV’s programming.
