Clinton and her cadre were assaulted by a swarm of bees as they prepared to board a plane in the Malawi’s capital city of Lilongwe.
The Hill describes Clinton and her detail, as well as those of the press covering her trip, as having “scampered for cover” when the swarm of African bees went on the offensive.
“There was a slight panic as the bees winged across the airport. People could be seen running away to keep cover as the Secretary of State swiftly boarded her plane to avoid any stings,” said a witness to the Nyasa Times.
Clinton’s visit marked the first time a high-ranking American official has visited Malawi since 1991 when former Vice President Dan Quayle toured the African country.
