Hotel Tweets Request to Be Removed From Photo Of Church Where Dylann Roof Killed 9 People

charleston marriot courtyard hotel twitter request original photoA hotel located near the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, where Dylann Roof murdered nine people on June 17, is unhappy with a tweeted picture of the church that includes the hotel’s sign and building.

Gawker reports that the Charleston Historic District hotel responded to Quintin Washington, who says he “[interviews] newsmakers in Charleston,” with a police censure on the social media platform Monday morning.

“We respectfully ask you not to include the hotel in in Mother AME photos,” said the tweet from the hotel’s official account.

An understandably perplexed Washington tweeted the photo twice more, saying that he didn’t “see anything wrong with this photo” since the hotel is “part of Mother Emmanuel Way.”

The hotel’s Twitter account subsequently removed the tweeted request and blocked Washington from seeing their account.

Gawker tried to contact the hotel’s front desk regarding the matter. However, the individual who answered the phone noted that “the hotel does not have a comment on that.”
