“He shall from time to time give to the Congress information of the state of the union, and recommend to their consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient.” – Article II, Section 3, United States Constitution

The above lines written by the hands of James Madison set the stage for the annual presidential address we have come to know as the State of the Union, and tonight President Barack Obama will give his last such address from the House Chamber at the United States Capitol.

The State of the Union address will begin at 9 p.m. ET. You can sit back and watch it here live below. Television channels like ABC, CBS, Fox, Fox News, MSNBC, C-SPAN, and CNN will feature a live address of the State of the Union. This year’s address will be a first for one of the people who figures to be featured prominently in the broadcast: newly elected Speaker of the House of Representatives Paul Ryan. To his right, Vice President Joe Biden may very well be seated for his last State of the Union.

South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley will be delivering the official Republican party response immediately following the State of the Union; Governor Haley’s address will be available for livestream at gop.gov, and is expected to begin shortly after 10:30 p.m. ET.
