Huckabee Goes After Cruz on Gay Marriage: Changes Message ‘Depending on Location’
Mike Huckabee pounced today on a Politico report about how gay marriage may not be a high priority for Ted Cruz if he’s elected president.
Politico obtained audio from a Manhattan fundraiser the Texas senator attended this month. Someone came up to Cruz, identified himself as a supporter, but told Cruz they disagree on gay marriage. He asked if, given how many big problems the U.S. is currently facing, how big a priority fighting gay marriage will be.
Cruz stuck to his states’ rights position on gay marriage and said he believes in the Constitution. When asked if gay marriage is a top 3 priority for him, Cruz said no, adding, “defending the Constitution is a top 3 priority, that cuts across the whole system.”
Cruz, of course, was pretty up in arms about the Supreme Court’s “radical” decision on gay marriage this June. A former Cruz communications director tweeted today the audio is pretty consistent with what he says publicly:
Also happens to be what he says in public. Whappp, waaaa. https://t.co/uoQTXgwAYK

But Mike Huckabee actually pounced and tweeted up a storm about it, suggesting Cruz tailors what he says depending on the audience:
Should conservatives support a corporately-funded candidate that says one thing at a Manhattan fundraiser & another at a Marshaltown church?

Shouldn’t candidates be expected to have authenticity & consistency, instead of looking at a map to decide what to believe & what to say?

Whether you agree w him, 1 reason I respect Trump: he doesnt pretend w his principles or change his message depending on location/audience.

If marriage & sanctity of life are truly issues of principle-not politics-there shouldn't be geographical boundaries to what's right & wrong
