Hugh Hewitt: For Republicans Strong ‘Personality’ Is Key, Not ‘Facts’

Screen Shot 2016-01-15 at 3.07.00 PMToday on CNN, conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt told host Alisyn Camerota that “fact-checking doesn’t matter in these things.” These things, in this instance, are debates and interviews involving the GOP candidates for president.

If a liberal pundit had made such a claim, you could file this post away under “petty hit piece” and move on, but Hewitt is a respected name in conservative politics and here he is saying, “What matters is personality and aura and your command presence and of all those two.”

Camerota appeared uncomfortable, forcing a laugh and saying, “Facts don’t matter!” to summarize Hewitt’s position. Fellow anchor Michael Smerconish admonished Hewitt, too, moments before the segment ended.
