‘If It’s Not MSNBC…’: Lawrence O’Donnell Hints at Career’s Future on Twitter

For a few days, rumors have swirled that Lawrence O’Donnell and MSNBC may be parting ways when his contract expires at the beginning of June.
After the rumors picked up speed, he pulled a Donald Trump and used Twitter to broadcast his side of that story.
First, he retweeted this last night, which describes an interaction between him and Rachel Maddow, who hosts in the time slot before his show comes on at 10:00:
“I consider us a team,” @maddow says to @Lawrence as she hands show over to him.
Sure doesn’t sound like he’s going anywhere.

Then, today, he responded to this…
@Lawrence @maddow @TheLastWord I’m sorry to hear you are leaving @msnbc. I will follow you wherever you go, but please don’t stop. We need your voice during this mess.
— Reckless Moxie (@RecklessMoxie) May 17, 2017
…with this:
Contract expires June 4. I’ll let you know where you can watch me June 5 if it’s not msnbc. I’m sorry this situation has become public. https://t.co/bS8V8GXbZ1
— Lawrence O’Donnell (@Lawrence) May 17, 2017
That “if it’s not MSNBC” sounds ominous, but the sentiment he retweeted last night sounds hopeful.
The real question here is who will get the Last Word…
