In One Epic Tweet, CNN’s John Berman Slams Donald Trump’s Threat to Cancel Briefings

This morning, President Donald Trump took to his favorite form of communication — his Twitter account — to state that it should be expected that his press team delivers inaccurate statements because he’s a “very active President.” He then suggested canceling press briefings in lieu of written responses “for the sake of accuracy.”

In response to Trump’s tweets, CNN anchor John Berman had another suggestion — maybe, just maybe, stop lying.

“You could cancel briefings,” Berman noted on CNN today. “You could do that. Another choice would be to cancel lies.”

The anchor would then highlight the numerous statements Trump administration officials gave in the immediate wake of FBI Director James Comey’s firing in which they said the president based the decision on recommendations from the Department of Justice, most notably Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. This was followed, of course, by Trump’s contradictory remarks during his interview with NBC News’ Lester Holt when he said he’d made the choice prior to receiving the recommendations and was going to fire Comey regardless.
