Iran: U.S. ‘Fighting on Same Side as al-Qaida,’ Used ‘Bogus’ WMD Allegations

Iran’s foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, in a series of Twitter posts Friday, condemned the airstrikes in Syria ordered by President Donald Trump.
Zarif played up how Iran was “the only recent victim of mass use of chemical weapons,” and claimed that the U.S. “resorts to military force over bogus CW allegations: 1st in 2003 and now in Syria.” He also contended that “not even two decades after 9/11, U.S. military fighting on same side as al-Qaida & ISIS in Yemen & Syria.”
As the only recent victim of mass use of chemical weapons (by Saddam in the 80’s), Iran condemns use of all WMD by anyone against anyone.1/3

Not even two decades after 9/11, US military fighting on same side as al-Qaida & ISIS in Yemen & Syria. Time to stop hype and cover-ups. 3/3

Zarif previously sparred with President Trump on Twitter back in February 2017 over an Iranian missile test. At the time, Mr. Trump asserted that “Iran is playing with fire.” The Iranian foreign minister retorted, “Iran unmoved by threats as we derive security from our people. Will never initiate war, but we can only rely on our own means of defense.”
