James Risen Rips Holder on Twitter: Leaves Behind ‘Wrecked First Amendment’
Attorney General Eric Holder‘s remarks today about press freedom really set off journalist James Risen, who really tore into Holder on Twitter. Risen, of course, was targeted by the government for years to force him to testify in a leak case, only for the DOJ to back away just months ago.
Holder today defended his record running the Justice Department and on press freedom. He said, “I think there is a question that members of the press should ask, about whether or not the disclosure of the information has a negative impact on the national security of the nation.”
Holder’s comments set Risen off, and he reiterated his previously stated beliefs that this administration is the most threatening to press freedom in quite a while:

Given Holder's speech today, I repeat: The Obama Administration is the greatest enemy of press freedom in a generation.

Eric Holder has been the nation's top censorship officer, not the top law enforcement officer.

Eric Holder has done the bidding of the intelligence community and the White House to damage press freedom in the United States.

Eric Holder has sent a message to dictators around the world that it is okay to crack down on the press and jail journalists.

Eric Holder leaves behind a wrecked First Amendment.

Eric Holder managed to destroy any semblance of a reporters privilege in the United States.

This is Eric Holder's true legacy on press freedom:
"There is no First Amendment "reporter's privilege."
From DOJ brief in my case.
