Jesse Eisenberg: Comic-Con Is Like ‘Some Kind of Genocide’
With his role as Lex Luthor in the new Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice due out next year, actor Jesse Eisenberg appeared on film’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend. But he wants to make it very clear that he did not enjoy himself.
In fact, Eisenberg delivered this quote about the annual comic book and entertainment convention to the Associated Press:
“It is like being screamed at by thousands of people. I don’t know what the experience is throughout history, probably some kind of genocide. I can’t think of anything that’s equivalent.”
The actor made those comments during the premiere for his other upcoming film, The End of the Tour, in which he plays a journalist who profiled author David Foster Wallace during the release of Infinite Jest.
“Yes I have never been on the other side, on your side of journalism. I have normally been the victim so I worked with the guy who I play, I play a real person, David Lipsky,” Eisenberg told the AP, revealing his less-than-flattering perception of the media. “I interviewed him. He taught me how to interview and what his process is like and now I understand the pariahs that you guys are.”
