Jim Jordan Calls CNN ‘Fake News’ For Literally Doing Reporting on Allegations He Ignored Sexual Abuse
“I’m telling the truth … To think that I would not stand up for my athletes is ridiculous,” Rep. Jordan says Wednesday in response to allegations that he knew of sexual abuse by Ohio State team doctor. https://t.co/raTPxm2WHf pic.twitter.com/yoGoFCcinI

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) has had enough of people saying he’s been lying about what he knew of sexual abuse at Ohio State.
Jordan told MSNBC Wednesday that he is “telling the truth” about not hearing any locker room talk about student athletes being abused under his watch at the university.
“Look, I stood up to the Speaker of the House from my home state, stood up to the IRS, stood up to the FBI,” Jordan said. “To think that I would not stand up for my athletes is ridiculous.”
Meanwhile, several victims have said that Jordan did know about the abuse, and the media is digging further into these allegations to determine their veracity.
In response to this, the congressman went on the offensive – particularly against CNN, which is apparently doing a deep dive into Jordan’s past via his staffers:
Now @CNN is contacting all 100+ of our former staff and interns asking for dirt on me. Getting desperate! How can you ever trust such #fakenews?

Many on Twitter were not impressed by Jordan literally repeating the definition of investigative journalism and calling it “#fakenews”:
Calling around and asking people questions is called “reporting.” How can you ever trust anything else? https://t.co/N6vFqyNp3B

With respect there Jimbo @Jim_Jordan I’ve seen you in the green room at CNN. You’ve been on the air as a guest giving your side of several stories. Following this logic it means we can’t trust you! https://t.co/c8fMtJErBI

That’s called “committing an act of journalism,” as my freshman journalism prof would put it. https://t.co/n63nS20r74

Asking for information (not “dirt”) from people who have reason to know the truth is called journalism. This is how this works. https://t.co/wTxIyQZ1yw

Because when I’m looking to print fake news, my first step is to…interview 100+ people? https://t.co/gl57zUNt7w

This is literally how reporting works. If it were fake news, they’d just write some shit without calling anyone. https://t.co/30DcCX1obO

There’s actually a term we use for for contacting people and asking them questions, it’s called “reporting.” https://t.co/TzSxZBQ71z

That’s literally the free press doing their job. The fact that you are scared speaks volumes. https://t.co/CMO3jNdJTC
