Jimmy Kimmel: ‘I Don’t Feel Tired From All the Winning Yet’
So yesterday was eventful.
As fallout continues from the sudden departure of White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci after only 10 days, Jimmy Kimmel took the stage at ABC to take stock of the situation.
Back from vacation, the late night star didn’t miss a beat.
“President Trump is coming off his worst since his last worst week, which I think was the week before last week,” he quipped. “Since we went away for vacation, Sean Spicer is out Reince Priebus is out, Trumpcare is dead and Kim Jong Un has a missile that can reach New York and weirdly I don’t feel tired from all the winning yet, I really don’t.”
It was of course an eventful week to go on vacation. A slowish news cycle yesterday was promptly exploded when the New York Times broke that Scaramucci would leave the White House after just days on the job. The departure was precipitated by his now infamous, profanity-laden interview with The New Yorker in which he called then-chief of staff Reince Priebus a “a fucking paranoid shizophrenic.”
Though the interview led to Preibus’ exit, his replacement, Gen. John Kelly moved swiftly to consolidate power in the West Wing, subordinating all White House factions to his authority. His first move on the job appears to be engineering Scaramucci’s ouster.
It remains unclear who will become the new White House Communications Director. There is also speculation the president may just leave the position open.
