John Kerry Dismisses ‘Quibbling’ over Absence from Unity Rally
The media’s been hammering away at the Obama administration for not sending any high-profile officials to join world leaders at the Paris unity march (CNN’s Jake Tapper in particular). The White House admitted that was probably a mistake on their part, but earlier in the day, during a press conference in India, Secretary of State John Kerry pushed back a bit against the criticism.
Kerry said he’s going to Paris later this week, emphasizing a relationship between the two nations that isn’t “about one day or one particular moment.” He spoke of the shared values both the United States and France hold, especially when it comes to freedom of expression.
Kerry also said, “This is sort of quibbling, a little bit,” pointing to various lower-level officials who were in attendance.
