John Oliver Mocks Chris Cuomo’s Instagram and Starts the #LetsNotGetAfterIt Challenge

Last night John Oliver spent the main portion of his show discussing Saudi Arabia and the disappearance of Jamal Khashoggi, but he ended the show with a lighter subject: the Instagram habits of our favorite news anchors.

In particular, he singled out the Instagram habits of MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski and especially CNN’s Chris Cuomo.

“The single greatest cable news Instagrammer, and I do not mean that as a compliment,” Oliver said, “has to be CNN’s Chris Cuomo.”

From the behind-the-scenes looks at his show to his workouts, Oliver was rather amused by the CNN anchor’s “thirst pit of an Instagram.”

But Oliver decided to have some fun with Cuomo’s signature catchphrase “Let’s get after it.”

“Instead of a Chris Cuomo-style account which just makes you feel shitty about your physical fitness and your lack of a sidekick named Rose,” Oliver said, “I’m gonna capture the hearts and minds of people who do not want to get after it in any shape or form because they’re tired.”

He announced the #LetsNotGetAfterIt challenge for people to “take a picture of your body functioning totally age-appropriately” and post it with that hashtag.

And the Last Week Tonight Instagram has a few examples featuring Oliver himself:
