Journalist Admits He Sent Death Threats to Himself

Colombian reporter Yesid Toro admitted that he sent death threats to himself because he didn’t want to lose his protection from Colombia’s National Protection Unit (UNP).

A few months ago, there was a flyer being circulated around that appeared to be signed by a notorious drug gang, listing several journalists––Toro included––that were being directly threatened.

But Toro admitted a few days ago that he was the one who sent it out, and now he will most likely face criminal charges. According to News24, Toro received special protection specifically because of the flyer and spent thousands to keep him and the other named journalists safe, but now the UNP is pursuing charges against him for his “irresponsible” actions.
