Karl Rove: Trump Needs to ‘End the Compulsive Tweeting’
Karl Rove has a new op-ed in The Wall Street Journal recommending that when he’s president, Donald Trump should stop his “compulsive tweeting.”
Rove, who wasn’t exactly the biggest Trump fan, is now recommending Trump should take quick action rolling back President Obama‘s executive actions and not “get sidetracked by hot-button issues.”
He recalls how despite questions of legitimacy in 2001, George W. Bush “wisely chose not to make a fuss.”
Which led Rove to address Trump’s Twitter habits:
What voters tolerated during the campaign now seems inappropriate for a presidential transition and is likely to be thought unacceptable once Mr. Trump takes office. As a candidate, he could punch down at lesser figures and comment carelessly on foreign leaders. But if President Trump continues this in the Oval Office, he will lessen his stature, move markets, poison relationships, and encourage adversaries to make miscalculations.
He cites recent polls on Trump’s Twitter habits to say the clear message is “end the compulsive tweeting and, especially, the Twitter wars.”
