Law Enforcement Officials Say WDBJ Shoter Closely Identified with 9/11 Attackers

Law enforcement officials today revealed more information they gleaned about WDBJ shooter Vester Flanagan, including a 9/11 connection.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office put out a press release today saying that they looked through lots of writings in his apartment and said, “It is apparent that Flanagan very closely associated with individuals who have committed domestic acts of violence and mass murder, as well as the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the U.S.”

There was initially some confusion when the press release first said that he “closely associated” with the attackers, the implication being he personally knew them. They later had to clarify:
