Rush Limbaugh had some thoughts today on Hugh Hewitt‘s interview with Donald Trump, not really criticizing Hewitt but instead lamenting how interviewers always ask these questions of Republicans to deliberately trip them up.
Ever since last night, when Hewitt tripped up Trump with some specific foreign policy questions, there’s been kind of a media frenzy about whether they were “gotcha” questions. Trump lashed out at Hewitt today and said they were, but Hewitt defended his questioning as perfectly fair game.
Limbaugh pointed out that these types of questions are never asked of Democratic candidates, and despite the questions to Trump coming from a solidly conservative radio host, he lamented, “They are questions that are designed to further the narrative that Republicans are just not bright, they’re just not hip.”
Limbaugh argued that really, at the end of the day, the main issue isn’t knowing the names of terrorist leaders, it’s just knowing they are terrorists and they need to be wiped out.
