Limbaugh: SNL Once Invited Me to Play Santa Claus

Rush Limbaugh today claimed that back in the 90s, Saturday Night Live invited him on not to play Santa Claus. Not as a show host or anything like that, just to play Santa.

Limbaugh never did it, of course, but says if he did, “it would have been one of the biggest career mistakes I’ve ever made.”

He explained on his radio show that Lorne Michaels personally reached out to him to play Santa, which was apparently “intended as a setup for Al Franken‘s book.” And as Limbaugh listened to Michaels, he says he realized they wanted to use him as a “punching bag,” so they turned him down.

Since then, of course, SNL has lampooned Limbaugh various times, including back in 2012 after Limbaugh got in trouble for his comments about Sandra Fluke.
