Maine Gov. LePage: Republicans ‘Beat Themselves Up So Badly’ They Should Pick ‘Fresh Face’ At Convention
At the National Governors Association this weekend, Paul LePage, the Republican governor of Maine, criticized his party’s candidates for engaging in so much infighting over the course of the campaign. He referenced Ronald Reagan‘s 11th commandment, and said that given how much the candidates have been aiming for each other and hurting each other’s campaigns, it might do well for the Republican party to bring in a completely new candidate come this summer, when the RNC meets to choose its nominee in Tampa.

LePage did not call any of the GOP candidates out by name, but according to POLITICO, he wants to see someone completely different emerging from the Republican National Convention.
“I’m pushing for a floor fight … I’d like to see a good old-fashioned convention and a dark horse come out…
“It’s been too messy. I just believe we ought to go to the convention and pick a fresh face,” LePage said. “They beat themselves up so badly that I’d think it’d be nice to have a fresh face.”
