Michael Moore’s Divorce Closes on Drunken Note
A report in the Detroit News isn’t going to do anything to burnish liberal filmmaker Michael Moore‘s image as a congenial, blue-collar everyman.
The lengthy piece has some juicy details on the drawn-out divorce taking place between Moore and his wife of 22 years, Kathy Glynn.
Among them: Glynn was charged with drunk driving on Independence Day:
On July 4, several weeks before the divorce’s final hearing, police stopped Glynn four miles from the couple’s lakefront home.
Returning from a friend’s house, her car was stopped by police after a motorist reported it had been weaving on the road.
A Breathalyzer test showed she had a blood alcohol level of .14, above the legal limit of .08, said the Antrim County Sheriff’s Office.
She was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and is set to appear July 29 in 86th District Court in Bellaire.
Also included in the report is a look at Moore’s lavish lakefront home near Traverse City, Mich. Detroit News described it as “two large houses joined at the hip, bordered by a third house.” That home is one of nine properties the couple own in New York and Michigan.
“He criticizes capitalism, but capitalism made him rich,” one man who lives in Moore’s neighborhood is quoted as saying. “He is not a common man. No way,” said another neighbor.
Moore and Glynn’s divorce is reported to be finalized Tuesday.
