Michael Musto On ‘Jewish Nazis’ Of GOProud: ‘Self-Defeating And Downright Creepy’

The gay conservative group GOProud has been taking particularly blunt swipes from their liberal counterparts after officially endorsing Mitt Romney for president, many of their liberal counterparts have taken particularly aggressive swipes at them for their argument that the economy and having a job are bigger issues to LGBT Americans than issues directly affecting the community. A week after Dan Savage called the group “house faggots” over the endorsement, Village Voice staple Michael Musto blasted them for being the equivalent of “Jewish Nazis.”

Musto recognizes in his post today that “the epithets and insults have been hurling at them like taunts at a gay kid,” wondering aloud whether the group has a “very scary death wish” and calling the move “creepy.” And before telling them to “blech, go away,” Musto lists off a number of analogies to what they do, by way of salute:

Women who campaign for Rush Limbaugh
Mexican Republicans!
Roaches who moonlight as exterminators!

The tone seems close to painful but as acerbic as anything hurled at the group. Their endorsement of Romney seemed to preempt these attacks, with co-founder Jimmy LaSalvia writing, “For far too long, the gay left in this country has been allowed to dictate what they believe qualify as ‘gay issues.’ We think that jobs, the economy, healthcare, retirement security and taxes are all ‘gay issues,’ and on every single one of those issues, Mitt Romney is light years better than President Obama.” LaSalvia provided comment to Buzzfeed on Musto:
