Michael Sam Cut from St. Louis Rams
Michael Sam, who would have been the first openly gay athlete to play in the NFL has reportedly been cut from the roster by the St. Louis Rams. ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news on Twitter Saturday afternoon:

ESPN reported that the Rams organization had released defensive end Michael Sam in favor of undrafted rookie Ethan Westbrooks before the 4 p.m. deadline Saturday when they had to cut its roster down to 53 players.
Sam made news when he came out as gay this past February, drawing congratulatory messages from President Barack Obama, among others. He managed to cause a major controversy when he celebrated getting drafted into the NFL by kissing his boyfriend on live television.
