Mike Pompeo Says U.S. Will Not Recognize Russia’s Annexation of Crimea

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says that the United States won’t recognize Russia’s annexation of Crimea and will demand that region be restored as a part of Ukranian territory.

The State Department released a statement saying America “reaffirms as policy its refusal to recognize the Kremlin’s claims of sovereignty over territory seized by force…Russia has acted in a manner unworthy of a great nation and has chosen to isolate itself from the international community.”

The declaration comes as Pompeo is about to testify before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. It’s very possible that he’ll be asked about this along with his recent endeavors on North Korea and President Trump’s controversial summit with Vladimir Putin.
