Morning Joe Cracks Up Over Latest Trump Tweet: ‘Most Meta Thing He’s Ever Done’
In response to a tweet from President Donald Trump early Monday in which he put himself in quotation marks, the set of Morning Joe had lots of laughs.
Trump’s tweet read, “Republicans are 5-0 in Congressional Races this year. The media refuses to mention this. I said Gillespie and Moore would lose (for very different reasons), and they did. I also predicted ‘I’ would win. Republicans will do well in 2018, very well! @foxandfriends.”
Remember, Republicans are 5-0 in Congressional Races this year. The media refuses to mention this. I said Gillespie and Moore would lose (for very different reasons), and they did. I also predicted “I” would win. Republicans will do well in 2018, very well! @foxandfriends

The random quotation marks around the “I” led John Heilemann to call the tweet “the most meta thing he’s ever done.”
“The quotation marks around the ‘I’ is going to take me awhile to get around. He puts quotation marks around things randomly and in a kind of surrealistic way all the time, but to just put quotation marks around the capital ‘I’ — I don’t really know what to make of that,” Heilemann said.
MSNBC’s Elise Jordan jokingly raised the question, “Do you think this president is slightly into himself?”
Morning Joe’s Mika Brzezinski appeared to compare the hosts of Fox & Friends to trained seals, as she mockingly mimicked the clapping that the sea mammals do when taught by humans in captivity. “He tags the tweet, ‘@Foxandfriends.’ Your network is doing good this morning. Are they making you happy?” quipped Brzezinski while clapping.
As for the substance of the tweet, one guest on the panel described the president as being “incredibly wrong — so wrong that it’s not even worth addressing.”
