Must-See Late Night Clip: Seth Meyers Reimagines Trump’s Crippled America
Seth Meyers’ monologue on Tuesday night’s Late Night was chock full of the day’s political stories, and managed to take aim at nearly half a dozen GOP Presidential candidates. After a day at Trump Tower that brought a frenzied book signing for Donald Trump’s new Crippled America, Meyers opened the show with, “…and from the looks of it, it’s the first book that gets angry at you for buying it.”
Meyers, who sits behind the desk rather than opting for the more conventional standing-monologue at the top of his show, had fun with Trump’s stern expression that graces the cover of the new book. “Seriously, look at him,” Meyers continued, “he looks like he’s been trying all day to see the image in one of those 3D magic eye posters.”
Meyers took a shot at reimagining the title of Trump’s new book as well, saying, “I guess that’s still better than the original title: Constipated America.”
The SNL alum also managed a joke at the expense of the bizarre pheasant-hunting trip that several of the Republican candidates for President went on recently. When one particular joke on the KKK-Halloween costume gag in Oklahoma fell somewhat flat, Meyers kidded, “Guess we got haunted by the joke ghost.” No word yet on where Crippled America ranks when compared to the Bible in Trump’s mind, but Meyers’ segment on Tuesday’s show still earns our “Must-See Late Night Clip” distinction.
