Nate Silver Tweets Out an Electoral Map of Which States Would Survive Nuclear Holocaust

Nate Silver took things to a dark place on Twitter this morning, presumably due to Donald Trump‘s recent remarks about nuclear weapons.

After tweeting about the need to expand on America’s capabilities, Trump followed up on Friday by hinting at nuclear proliferation and saying “let it be an arms race.” Trump’s comments contradict decades of American policy on this front, and his comments have set the political world ablaze with concerns and questions.

This being the case, FiveThirtyEight’s master statistician put out a new kind of electoral map, showing which states would survive a nuclear war that theoretically destroys most of America.

By Silver’s estimation, Wyoming, Alaska and Hawaii would be the only states that would ride out the apocalypse.
