NBC News Chief Hints at More Changes on MSNBC, Super-Sized Morning Joe

andy lackIf you have liked the recent changes at MSNBC, then you should be encouraged by NBC News chief Andy Lack‘s comments that it’s only the beginning.

Lack gave an interview to Variety in which he explains, “These were important steps, the first few steps, but there is a lot more we are thinking about. It’s a long game, as I have said, and we are just at the beginning of it.”

He talks up the franchising of Meet the Press with Chuck Todd‘s MTP Daily and even hints at more Morning Joe.

“I’m just looking at ways to extend some of the good work that Joe and Mika are doing and turn it around, expand it,” he says. “In my view, it is the most influential program in cable news in the morning, and I think it’s missing an opportunity in the west.”

So get ready for some super-sized Scarborough, folks!

Incidentally, Mediaite’s own Joe Concha reported exclusively last month that Morning Joe would be getting a one-hour expansion.

Lack also admits that MSNBC was missing a crucial breaking news element, but now they have that in Brian Williams and they now have some additional programming ideas for down the road.
