One of President Donald Trump’s closest acquaintances explained that if the Democratic Party is able to take the House in this upcoming midterm election, the president may suddenly find he has a lot in common with the Dems.
In an interview with the Financial Times, Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy said that he figures Trump will reveal a greater willingness to work with Democrats in the near future, noting that the president isn’t “ideologically rigid” and that Trump used to be a Democrat himself.
“There’s a lot he agrees with them about,” Ruddy stated.
“If the Democrats win the House, Trump might find more of his inner Democrat,” he further noted.
In recent days, Trump has appeared to frustrate some Republicans over his comments revolving around gun control. In the wake of the Parkland shooting, he has at various times proposed raising age limits to purchase guns and said he’d prefer to take guns away from certain people while setting aside due process.
