NYPD Commish Bratton Regrets Sitting Near Sharpton at de Blasio Roundtable

There was a New York Magazine profile on NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton last week, and there’s one detail that got overlooked: the commissioner has some regrets about sitting close to Al Sharpton at a roundtable held by Mayor Bill de Blasio following the death of Eric Garner.

This is the same roundtable at which Sharpton invoked de Blasio’s own son Dante to argue for police reform in the Garner case; a line that reportedly got the mayor really “pissed” at Sharpton.

And Bratton also wasn’t terribly happy with being just two seats away from Sharpton:

Yes, Bratton says, in hindsight it was probably a bad idea to sit on one side of the mayor with the Reverend Al Sharpton on the other at a City Hall press conference back in July, after the death of Eric Garner.

He does, however, continue to defend de Blasio, as he has done in the face of his own police department making a showing of expressing their disdain for the mayor.
