Obama: If Only Washington Were as ‘Ruthlessly Efficient’ as House of Cards
House of Cards’ Frank Underwood may be a power-hungry sociopath, but as Bart Simpson once said of ex-cons, “he gets the job done.”
Such was the sentiment of President Barack Obama, when he met Netflix CEO Reed Hastings at a White House meeting of tech industry leaders on NSA surveillance. Obama reportedly inquired if Hastings had brought an advance copy of the second season, which begins on Valentine’s Day of 2014, and Hastings encouraged Obama to make a cameo.
Obama could only dream. “I wish things were that ruthlessly efficient,” he told Hastings. “It’s true. It’s like Kevin Spacey, man, this guy’s getting a lot of stuff done.”
For a dissenting take on Underwood’s “efficiency,” see Barney Frank’s review of the show.
