Obama Set to Speak With Merkel at an Event in Berlin Next Month

Former President Barack Obama will be participating in a public discussion alongside German Chancellor Angela Markel next month.

The Obama Foundation — one of the co-sponsors of the event — tweeted out this announcement earlier:

Obama was invited to the discussion, titled “Being Involved in Democracy: Taking on Responsibility Locally and Globally,” just last year, and it will be one of many events this year marking the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation.

According to the Wall Street Journal, this will be Obama’s first overseas event of his post-presidency.
