Paul Ryan on Trump’s New Border Wall Comments: ‘I Don’t Think a Government Shutdown Is Necessary’

While President Trump was speaking to the American Legion in Reno this afternoon, Speaker Paul Ryan was responding to some of what the President said at his big Phoenix rally last night.

At one point during the rally, Trump said, “If we have to close down our government, we’re building that wall.”

Ryan said today, “I don’t think a government shutdown is necessary, and I don’t think most people want to see a government shutdown, ourselves included.”

He said there are serious issues related to immigration and the border wall that Congress is currently addressing.
