People Were Upset That Roger Ailes Was Included in the ‘In Memoriam’ Segment at The Emmys
The “In Memoriam” segments of awards shows tend to be known for their omissions, but this time there’s outrage over someone that was included.
Roger Ailes, the chairman and founder of Fox News Channel, died four months ago. Despite being ousted for sexual harassment, Ailes was included in the “In Memoriam” package because of the huge impact he had on television. However, people expressed their lack of enthusiasm for seeing his face alongside other television legends who have passed away this year.
Had to turn it off. My industry hanging with Sean Spicer and honoring Roger Ailes made me depressed. #Emmy

Hey #Emmys, Please don’t put Roger Ailes on the same list as Gwen Ifill, ever. #NotBuyingIt

Roger Ailes was included in the “In Memoriam” tribute because of his lifetime of achievement as a producer of racism. #EMMY2017

Roger Ailes is probably the person most responsible for the current toxicity of our political landscape. #Emmys shouldn’t have honored him.

My favorite television moment of 2017 years is the cold silence that greeted Roger Ailes during the Emmys In Memoriam.

And there were several people upset that Ailes was included but not others like Charlie Murphy, Dick Gregory, Erin Moran, Frank Vincent, and Harry Dean Stanton.
Roger Ailes gets into Memoriam at #emmys. Charlie Murphy doesn’t.
Can we just hold down the buttons on 2017 and reset it?

So Dick Gregory couldn’t get mentioned but Roger Ailes was ??? #inmemoriam #Emmys

#Emmys did not include Frank Vincent, Dick Gregory, Harry Dean Stanton, or Charlie Murphy but don’t fret, they made room for Roger Ailes! pic.twitter.com/0rb2EDeT2N

They also left out Erin Moran, who played Joanie on “Happy Days” and “Joanie Loves Chachi” – but Roger Ailes was in the segment. https://t.co/8xLwTGYtm6
