RT Correspondent Apologizes for Sharing ‘Inaccurate’ Pro-Stalin Gulag Memes

RT’s Washington, D.C. correspondent Sameera Khan issued an apology for posting memes defending genocidal Soviet leader Jospeh Stalin, stating that she no longer wishes “to make light of the tragic mass persecutions” that occurred during his regime.
“I have just found out that the memes I shared re: Stalin’s gulags were inaccurate. My apologies to all those who were offended,” tweeted the employee of the Kremlin-funded news outlet. “I also in no way intended to make light of the tragic mass persecutions they took place under the Stalin regime and I again apologize for sharing this misleading and offensive information.”

The apology came after several weeks of Khan posting numerous tweets defending Stalin.
Two of these posts included Khan claiming that Stalin’s Soviet gulags were hospitable living spaces where inmates ran the show and were given vacation time, equal wages, entertainment, and even freedom of speech. However, the facts listed on the pro-Stalin memes shared by Khan turned out to be false, which led to her apology.

In other recent posts, the RT pundit declared that she “would have died for Stalin… no questions asked.” In another post, she said, “I would give my life for the return of Stalin… without hesitation.”
Khan caused a stir on Twitter last week after she announced her plans to protest vote for Republicans in the upcoming election as a way of hurting the Democratic Party, despite claiming to be a leftist.
