Rush: Obama’s Debt Ceiling Deadline Is Aug. 2nd Because ‘Ramadan Starts Aug. 1st’

This is one of my favorite types of Rush Limbaugh clips. The kind where he says something so patently ridiculous that he himself can’t help but laugh as he imagines the furious liberals and listeners pounding on their radios in anger. (For past examples, watch the glee he had when responding to criticism over his “Chinese” voice) Today’s instance came as Limbaugh gave his theory why President Obama is pushing for an August 2nd deadline for debt ceiling talks: Ramadan starts on August 1st.

After the comment, there’s a pause and then Limbaugh begins laughing to himself and exclaiming “Well, it is! I looked it up!” The best part is, in that moment, he sounds exactly like a little boy realizing he can get away with saying “damn” if he’s talking about “dams.” “What? That’s what they’re called! Why are you mad!”

It may sound like I’m dissing the radio host by comparing him to a mischievous grade-schooler, but I mean it in the best way possible.
