Sam Bee Piles on Jeff Sessions: ‘There’s a Good Chance He’s Dropped a N-Word or Two’
The confirmation hearing for incoming Attorney General Jeff Sessions has not exactly been a welcoming affair for everyone; aside from the spat of regular protestors who have crashed the proceedings — some even casually dressed as Klansmen — even Sessions’ senate colleagues can’t agree that he’s the right man for the gig.
And on Wednesday night, Sessions got the full late night comedy treatment compliments of Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, who harangued the Alabama senator for his history of alleged racial insensitivity. Sessions — or “Jefferson Beauregard Confederacy Scarlett O’Hara Cotton Gin Sessions III,” as Bee referred to him as — had his record on civil rights voting critiqued by the Full Frontal host, who asked at one point, “How low is our bar?”
Of course, Sessions likely earned his job as a result of his longstanding support for Donald Trump; the Alabama senator endorsed Trump’s candidacy, “… way back when we thought Trump had no chance because he was only attracting kooks like Jeff Sessions,” said Bee.
But during a segment showing some of Sessions’ most controversial comments from the past, she continued as part of her deep-dive, “I don’t really care about something he said thirty years ago. He’s a 70-year-old white guy from Alabama. There’s a good chance he’s dropped a N-word or two in his life.”
