Son of Ex-NSA Susan Rice Claims He Was Physically Assaulted During Pro-Kavanaugh Rally

John Rice-Cameron, the son of former National Security Advisor Susan Rice, claims he was physically assaulted at a rally in support of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
The Stanford Daily reports that Rice-Cameron — who is president of the Stanford College Republicans — claims classmate Melinda Hernandez “shoved him in the chest with her hand during a verbal disagreement.” The student news outlet, citing a Stanford Department of Public Safety spokesperson, reported, “Hernandez was placed under a private person arrest at Rice-Cameron’s request and issued a citation for battery.”
The Stanford Daily quoted a law enforcement source saying “there was no obvious physical injury to either party involved” and Rice-Cameron refused evaluation by paramedics.
Hernandez, along with multiple other witnesses, dispute the characterization and claim Hernandez “merely touched” him “after he refused to stop video recording her without her consent.”
President of the Stanford Democrats, Gabe Rosen, told the newspaper that the fact the police were called “deeply concerned” him.
The District Attorney’s office will be reviewing the case and will make the decision on whether any further action is warranted.
“Nobody should be assaulted on campus, under any circumstances,” Rice-Cameron said.
Susan Rice was in the news last week for a Tweet in which she floated a Senate run against Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) following her vote in favor of Kavanaugh. Rice later said she wasn’t “making any announcements” on the prospect.
