With leaks to the press dominating a lot of the news cycle, there’s news today of a rather timely movie project about one of the most famous leaks in American history.

According to multiple reports, Steven Spielberg is set to direct Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep in The Post, a film telling the story of the Washington Post‘s reports on the infamous Pentagon Papers and their fight with the government over their right to publish those documents.

The reports say Hanks would be playing the role of Ben Bradlee, who was executive editor of the Post at the time, and Streep would be publisher Kay Graham.

There was a TV movie about the leak in 2003, starring James Spader as whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg.
