Ted Cruz Gets Enormous Book Advance; Even Larger than Sarah Palin’s Deal
According to Washington Examiner’s Paul Bedard, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) inked a book deal with a near-$1.5 million advance for a still-unwritten memoir about his rise to prominence as the enfant terrible of the far right.
Cruz’s marquee advance comes after a four-day book auction, and dwarfs comparative hauls for other rising GOP stars like Senators Rand Paul (R-KY) and Marco Rubio (R-FL). Only Sarah Palin’s $1.25 million advance comes close to Cruz’s.
Cruz was elected to the Senate after upsetting David Dewhurst in the 2012 Texas GOP primary, and came to prominence last fall as the machinator behind the government shutdown.
