The Green Olympic Pool Water Has Become Even More Icky Forcing Divers to Miss Training
Okay, this is getting ridiculous.
On Monday, we showed you the pool at the Marie Lenk Aquatic Center, where the Olympic divers were forced to leap into waters that appeared to closely resemble Jell-O.
Well, check out how it looks now:

Sally Jenkins of The Washington Post tweeted out the above picture, along with the news that training for the Olympic Divers was cancelled this morning. We can only ask: What took them so long?
Diver Tom Daley of Great Britain is outwardly laughing off concerns about the water on Twitter, but must surely be a bit concerned,
Diving pool is closed this morning. Hopefully that means we haven’t been diving in anything too bad the last couple of days! ???

FINA, the governing body of diving, issued the following statement insisting that the water is safe, and explaining why the water got so murky in the first place:
The reason for the unusual water colour observed during the Rio 2016 diving competitions is that the water tanks ran out some of the chemicals used in the water treatment process. As a result the pH level of the water was outside the usual range, causing the discolouration. The FINA Sport Medicine Committee conducted tests on the water quality and concluded that there was no risk to the health and safety of the athletes, and no reason for the competition to be affected.
It’s unclear, at the moment, if tonight’s events will proceed as scheduled.
