The Republican National Committee is calling on ABC News to apologize over its botched report on President Trump and Michael Flynn.
Yesterday Brian Ross reported that Flynn is expected to testify that, “as a candidate,” Trump directed him to reach out to Russia. But it was actually as President-elect instead––and that’s not a small difference––and ABC News later corrected the report.
But the network still got criticized for the serious error, and now the RNC is weighing in.
RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel tweeted this out today:
It's ridiculous that it took over 6 hours for ABC News to issue a “clarification" for a report that was completely false. ABC News should retract and apologize. pic.twitter.com/nNToRTdi71

And the GOP website now has a statement on “the ‘bombshell’ that bombed” saying the following:
As the stock market tanked and the ladies of The View celebrated, ABC News stalled for hours while their false “bombshell Flynn report” reached millions of Americans.
Mistakes happen, but the decision not to post the report online suggests ABC News doubted its accuracy from early on. It took over 6 hours to issue a widely-panned “clarification” and another 5 hours to issue that same weak statement, altered only to include the word “correction” at the front.
To be clear, the “corrected” version is that President-elect Trump wanted to speak with Russia during the transition about defeating ISIS in Syria. (How scandalous?!!)
ABC News should fully retract and apologize.
